25 Towns To Use Optical Scan Technology

POSTED: 5:36 pm EST November 6, 2006
UPDATED: 10:19 am EST November 7, 2006

For this election, 25 towns across the state will be using optical scan technology, where the voter fills in bubbles like on the sat test or a lottery ticket.

In the 25 towns, voters sign in as usual and then are given a sheet and escorted to a private area to fill out votes and place it in a machine to be counted.

One other new option in place for this election is geared toward the physically disabled voters.

It is a menu-driven phone ballot located in a private area of the polling places that allows the visually impaired and physically disabled to vote independently for the first time.
