Thanks to Trinity College and the Connecticut Council on Humanities, many Hartford area residents are getting a chance they never thought they'd have: to go to college.

Officials said Trinity College's Gateway to the Humanities program is intended for lower-income residents in the Hartford area who have the potential to do college work, but who've always financial or domestic obstacles.

The program is absolutely free. There is no cost for courses or books and even bus fare is covered by Trinity.
