BROOKLYN, Conn. -- A judge ordered a 16-year-old male to be evaluated at a hospital after police said he fired an AK-47 on a basketball court.Just before 8 p.m. Tuesday, the Brooklyn teen was playing basketball with a group of young people and began to have words with each other, police said.The 16-year-old began bragging about having an AK-47 rifle the left the court and reappeared moments later with the weapon and began firing, police said. No one was hit.
The teen was arraigned Wednesday.His father, who is a minister, said that the AK-47 was actually his and he had it away in a locked room. He said his son is autistic and was so upset by what was said on the basketball court, he broke into the locked room through a window and grabbed the gun, according to court testimony.The teen was charged with seven counts, including criminal attempt to commit murder, reckless endangerment and possession of marijuana.Group Wrestles AK-47 Away From Teen On Basketball Court
