Mother Gives Son Questionable Hanukkah Gift
Judge Calls Written Message In Gift "Detrimental"
A mother accused of abducting her son during a custody battle was back in court Friday because of questionable Hanukkah gifts.
Bonnie Rubenstein was allowed to visit her son Randy on Dec. 10. According to court testimony, she gave him Hanukkah toys that included a vest and a scrapbook full of pictures of them on the run.
She called it a vacation, and wrote that she can't wait to do it again.
NBC 30's Lisa Carberg asked Rubenstein what she meant when she wrote, 'I can't wait to do it again.'
"I can't wait to go on vacation ... I was just trying to make a poem rhyme," Rubenstein explained.
The judge called the writing "detrimental" and "not helpful," but said he didn't feel it violated a protective order. However, the judge warned that future gifts and cards should not carry any messages that could confuse the boy.
